During the talk there were some intelligent questions asked of Lord Young around funding in education , poverty within Weymouth, the deposition of a monarchy and the issues surrounding artificial intelligence . Sir Young was highly impressed by the debating society and said ‘ I thought that the questions were intellectual and curious and I am thrilled that you have a debating group - come and join us here in Westminster as a career when you are older ‘.

One student said ‘ I want to be an MP to improve life chances for my constituents’. Mark Chutter, Head of Performing Arts who arranged the online event, exclaimed’ my thanks to Lord Young for today . Here at Wey Valley we are a Unicef Rights Respecting School and a fundamental understanding of Westminster and the House of Lords is of critical importance in terms of British values and democracy’.
