Wey Valley Academy

Students Experience United Kingdom Sail Association

20 Year 9 and 10 students took part in the UKSA (United Kingdom Sail Association) Marine STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mechanics ) course this week based at The Sea Cadet Centre . Students learnt about team building, communication, problem solving, the different marine industries in our local area, how to study post 16 for a career in the outdoors, how to drive and maintain power safety boats and completed stage 1 in dingy sailing. They also looked at the environment and sustainability on the coast.  Many thanks to UKSA who came from the Isle of Wight and to the staff at The Sea Cadet Centre.

Sailing club starts after Easter, please contact Mrs Govier for details.
