Wey Valley Academy Prizegiving

On Thursday 11th December it was the Wey Valley Academy Prizegiving. The guest speakers included Paul Atterbury, BBC Antiques Roadshow, Lloyd Hatton MP and the Mayor of Weymouth, Caroline Nickinson. The guests were warmly welcomed by Mr Dyer, Principal. Our guest speaker Mr Atterbury explored ambition when considering a career in the future 'do not be frightened of failure and learn from it '. 
Furthermore, Lloyd Hatton discussed the importance of the debating society at Wey Valley which he has had the privilege of judging different perspectives on artificial intelligence at the school this term. Hatton exclaimed 'I am proud to have been born in Weymouth and to be the first MP in history from the area - this could be you'. Caroline Nickinson, the Mayor of Weymouth talked with great gusto regarding the history of the role of being Mayor. Nickinson is passionate about the community , education and supporting local charities. The awards were a great success. Mr Dyer said 'my thanks to our guests and my congratulations to our award winners. Ambition is key to achieving but it is resilience and respect that is critical - success is not possible without respect. My thanks to our highly skilled staff and supportive families'.
